First registered in February 1924, this 100 year old vintage Bentley has been in the same ownership for almost a quarter of a century.
The first registered owner was Mr. S. Walker of Charlton Manor, Blandford. He owned the car for six years.
Chassis 428 carries an original Vanden Plas 4-seat sports coachwork believed to have been fitted circa 1930. The body was removed from the 3 Litre Speed Model, chassis 1223 which was purchased new in 1925 by one of the Bentley boys, Sir Tim Birkin. He owned and used that car for around two years.
This car retains matching numbers on the chassis, back axle, diff casing, steering box. It has an A type gearbox and being an early 1924 model it benefits from front wheel brakes. The engine was originally fitted with a single up-draft carburettor but was exchanged in period for twin sloping SUs. In recent years the engine has been rebuilt to include a counter balance crank and modern conrods.
A charming car with character in abundance.
