Chassis No. VA 4100 was the last 4-litre chassis built by Bentley Motors and possibly the last WO Bentley built by the old company. A total of fifty 4 Litre Bentleys were produced and this is one of the thirty-nine short chassis cars produced.
The car carries its original coachwork built by Freestone & Webb Ltd and is a highly attractive 3 position DHC. VA 4100 is in outstanding original condition and is a car for the connoisseur.
The 4 Litre was introduced as a last ditched attempt to save the old Bentley company and was a rationalisation of the existing 6 cylinder cars. The new model had a 6 cylinder engine of 4 Litre capacity with a cylinder head designed by Ricardo. It shared the shorter 8-litre Bentley chassis and was not well received among the Bentley traditionalists.
VA 4100’s performance surpasses expectations and is comparable to a Derby 3½ Litre Bentley, with the added pleasure of vintage Bentley exhaust notes.
This is an exciting opportunity to acquire a highly original, attractive and significant WO Bentley at a fraction of the price of its 8 Litre relative.
