This stunning Rolls-Royce 20/25 Sedanca Coupé, Chassis No. GBA 64, boasts exquisitely proportioned coachwork by Freestone & Webb of North London.
Freestone & Webb were one of the finest British coachbuilders known for building light-weight coachwork of exciting styles and high quality. They pioneered the infamous Art Deco inspired ‘razor edged’ saloon coachwork, a defining style of the period.
GBA 64 carries body number 1062 and was produced during the golden years of Freestone & Webb. The car is equally attractive with the front compartment open or enclosed. The front section Sedanca arms are removeable, with neat storage compartments provided for each behind hinged doors in the door shut areas! This is a sophisticated solution, and in our view, trumps other methods employed by alternative coachbuilders.
The 20/25 was intended as an owner-driver car and was built concurrently with the Phantom II. It was the best selling of the small horsepower models benefitting from an enlarged (3,669cc) overhead valve engine. This increase in power allowed bespoke coachbuilders greater freedom in their efforts to satisfy discerning clientele.
Finished in black with burgundy-trimmed interior, GBA 64 is in excellent condition having undergone extensive work by marque specialists in recent years. In the hands of the current owner the car successfully completed the 20-Ghost Club’s Alpine Tour 2023, proving its reliability and strong performance on the road.
Noteworthy features of GBA 64 include an upgraded cartridge type oil filter, flashing indicators, electric fuel pumps and an overdrive making the car ideal for touring. The car also presents extremely well. Accompanying the car is a toolkit trimmed into the boot lid, and an extensive and impressive history file.
GBA 64 ranks as one of the all-time great looking 20/25s and turns heads wherever it goes.
