Pebble beach Concours d’Elegance is the climax of Monterey Week, a motoring extravaganza like no other!
Jonathan was thrilled this year to attend with not just one, but three great cars! In addition to the 1924 Hispano-Suiza that was making its debut appearance after being fully restored within our workshops, Jonathan supported a fabulous 1923 Rolls-Royce 20 Barker ‘barrel-sided’ tourer, a car supplied new to India and first owned by Nawab Moinud Dowla; and a wonderfully original 1962 Bentley S2 Continental Mulliner Coupé, having only covered 30,000 miles from new.
A highlight of the week was The Tour. This is an opportunity for the concours entrants to prove their cars on the spectacular Pacific Highway. Jonathan was delighted to pilot the Bentley S2 for the first leg, before hopping into the Hispano for the return run – what a day’s driving!
The concours was equally a spectacular day. We were delighted that the Hispano was awarded 2nd in Class and also received the Alec Ulmann Trophy, an award for the car which best embodies the combination of elegance in performance and design. In the same class was the famous and spectacular ‘Tulipwood’ Hispano Suiza H6C which went on to win ‘Best of Show’. Where else could you go to see two spectacular sister H6Cs parked alongside each other!
